4911 hearing aids fitted ,Manipur now in Guinness World record
Manipur sets its first ever record for fitting 4911 hearing aids in a span of 8 hours.This record was achieved at a Grand hearing aids distribution at Khuman Lampak, Indoor Stadium, sports complex. The event was jointly organised by the National Programme for Prevention of Deafness, National Health Mission, Manipur and ALIMCO( India).
Around about 4911 hearing aids were distributed till 4:45p.m evening. The distribution started sharp at 8:45 a.m where patients came from all nook and corners of the state.
Talking on the occasion Union Minister Social Justice and Empowerment Thawar Chand Ghelot said in the morning that , ‘this is the first ever biggest camp which is organising in this country, We do hope that by evening we will be able to make into Guinness Book record. The total cost of the aids cost 4.44 crore.’
C.M Ibobi later addressed the august gathering by stating that the state has done its level best is improving in health sectors. Our state is poor but we have managed and sanctioned 2.5 crores for this hearing aids from our state fund.
He further gave credits to all the doctors, volunteers and Asha workers who were been working very hard to make this day a successful one. Its is due to their hard work, dedication and determination we could now provide this gift to all the differently abled brothers and sisters.
CCTV cameras were fitted to track the event, Guinness Book team also saw it live on their sites.
Later gifts were being distributed to differently abled kids and adults. Union Minister and C.M Ibobi also fitted the hearing aids to some of the individuals.
Volunteers from schools, colleges were seen helping the event a successful. For this grand event the state had already announced a holiday in advance.
At around 6:50p.m Guinness World record Provisional Certificate was handed over to C.M at his office chamber .
